The Corvette Indy Concept was an attempt by Chevrolet to develop a mid-engine Corvette in the 1980s. Power was to be provided by a twin-turbo 2.65-liter Indy V8 rumored to generate 600 bhp and the body would be made of carbon fiber and Kevlar.
The highly advanced Corvette would feature four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering in a package that has a strong resemblance to the Jaguar XJ220.
The Indy was unveiled at the 1986 Detroit Auto Show, but with a 5.7-liter V8 engine that propelled it from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds. But alas, like many concept cars it never made it to production.
