Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1957 Chrysler Saratoga two-door hardtop. The finned Mopar is powered by a rebuilt 354ci Spitfire V8 connected to a push-button Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission. Notable equipment includes power windows and quad headlights. Painted in Gauguin Red with Cloud White top, this Saratoga is being auctioned by a private party and comes with a clear Utah title.

Touted as the “big, fine car in the medium priced field,” the Chrysler Saratoga was the middle model situated between the Windsor and the New Yorker. This example was in the possession of the previous owner for 40 years with the paint being refinished 20 years ago. Note the dual mirrors and antennae.

Full-length bodyside trim was part of the Saratoga trim level, but this vehicle features the optional deluxe two-toning on the rear fenders. The black steel wheels with full wheel covers ride on whitewall tires.

The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl with white piping. Additional trim details include black dashboard pad, black carpeting, and gray cloth door panels and rear trim. Note the optional power windows plus AM radio.

A 120-mph speedometer, clock and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage and oil pressure are mounted ahead of the driver. And as the Torque-Flite automatic transmission was standard on the Saratoga; you’ll find the dashboard-mounted pushbutton transmission selector on the left side of the dashboard. The odometer reads 63,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

Power is provided by a 392ci FirePower Hemi V8, which put out 295 horsepower with a four-barrel carburetor. This engine was rebuilt in 2019 and has yet to accrue 1000 miles. Underhood features include gold Chrysler FirePower valve covers, power steering, generator and an aftermarket Edelbrock air cleaner.

This Chrysler was factory-equipped with an independent torsion-bar front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power drums at all four corners.
