This new genre of vehicles started in the U.S. with the Dodge Caravan in 1984 and the minivan is still around today as a people hauler and family vehicle. The SUV supplanted the minivan as the family vehicle of choice, but a few options are still out there if you want one.

So dear readers, What is your favorite minivan?

Give us your take in the comments section. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”

My Take? For reasons that are unclear I’ve always leaned towards the Chevy Astro.

  1. 1990-99 pontiac transport. Had one and always liked it, especially the rubber body panels. Never had a ding or paint chip the whole time I owned it.

  2. OK, I’ll say it. There is no such thing as a favorite mini-van. We all got stuck buying one at one point in our lives to do the right thing for our kids and spouses. After that, penance paid–back to a hot rod.

  3. I had a new 1994 Olds Silhouette, the only minivan I ever owned, after much research into the topic. It was luxury, utility, and “performance”/ as much as I could expect. Leather and full electric complements, musical chairs arrangement of seating, and the 3800 V6 engine. Transmission needed factory replacement after 25K miles, but it didn’t strand me.

    • I like keeping people guessing and on their toes, like Nolan Ryan throwing a curve ball when you’re thinking fastball.
