I hope the weekend treated you well and as we start a new week I’ll keep the Question of the Day straight forward.
So dear readers, What is your favorite car from the 1970s?
Give us your take in the comments section. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”
My Take? 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6, but a 1970 Dodge Challenger isn’t too far behind. I’ve seen Vanishing Point too many times.
MGB GT V8
1970 Mustang Mach I
1971 Pontiac Barracuda Hemi.
That is my all time favorite car. I don’t ever hope to own one due to the insane prices they are going for.
Plymouth Barracuda Hemi. Spell Check?
1970 Cadillac DeVille
70 Buick Riviera
1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
1970 AMC Rebel Machine. My all time favorite
1972 Monte Carlo. Drove one in high school, and wrecked it multiple times. Bought another one a couple years back, and I’m turning it into what I wanted the one I had in high school to be.
My second choice would be a 1972 Dart Swinger like “Gramps” had.
AMC Rebel The Machine
A used 1967 Corvette Coupe 427 Tri-Power 435hp !
the question was 1970s
My 1970 Triumph TR-6. Damson Red (dark maroon).
Almost 70…1969 chevelle ss 396 black with white interior !!! Such a beauty
because you did not include the 60s, I have to say a 1970 Boss 429, 1971 Boss 351
I owned a Maroon 1976 AMC Pacer DL
Not a 70 but the 69 Corvette 427 is top choice and a 73 Camaro LT is my second.
Since I was young, its always been the 70 SS Chevelle which I currently own. But, it was a hard choice as I’ve always loved the 69 Road Runner as well.
A black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454
The 1970 Impala Custom, with the top 454/TH400, bucket seat interior with the stirrup shifter- prefer the Honduras/Madeira maroon over black, but Rally green over white is cool, too. Rally wheels a must. A large, in charge barge!
1971 maverick grabber.I had one in 1973,it had a 302,a real sleeper!
1970 GTX
70 1/2 Trans am in white, blue interior, 400/455, automatic, AC …
Same as you, 70 Chevelle LS6, 4spd, gauges, bucket seats, dark blue w/white stripes. Thats the one I dropped a $500 deposit on while home on leave from Vietnam, never got the car or my deposit because the insurance company wanted $150 a month I didn’t have that kind of money as a Sgt in the Marines in 1970.
1970 Roadrunner or GTX
1972 Buick Skylark with a 350 Buick and 4 on the floor. Just a little different to catch the eye !
1970 SS 396 Camaro
1970 – 1973 Pontiac Trans Am
1970 Dodge Charger RT- 440/6Pack
A 1970 olds 442 W-30 forest green with white strips and a parchment interior .
I love the 1971 Dodge Charger R/T with door gills. They are very long and shark like. The 1977 and 78 Pontiac Trans Ams from Smokey and the Bandit are also a 70’s favorite with the great camaro z28 not being quite as good. Great 70’s styling with poor build quality and performance that practically ended in 74 with the SD TA’s.
Yep, a 70 Chevrolet Malibu SS454. Navy blue, white stripes and interior. Cowl Induction, all power. It was my car in 1970. The best!
Hands down, the 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT with the 351 Cleveland engine in maroon.
1979 Mustang GT 5.0 TRX. Went like hell and cornered like it was on rails.
1970 Chevelle SS 396/4 spd.
1978 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. Light metallic green, please with matching green interior.
71 Firebird Formula. Good friend had this metallic green one and it turned my head every time he drove by. Just a gorgeous car.
Appears I’ve landed in a muscle car site. No mention of the 1972 Datsun 240Z.
Great choice!
My favourite car was a 1967 dodge polars 500 2 door coupe !! 383 2 barrel !!!!
So many cars from the 70s that I love. So different when the perspective of a decade is 40 or 50 years in the past. A 72 or 73 Gran Torino Sport probably tops the list. An early 70’s Plymouth Satellite or Barracuda as well as any Vette or Camaro would come a close second.
All of the muscle cars of the 1970’s!!!
1978 Trans Am black and gold edition.
My favourite is a Chevy Impala 1966
