I hope the weekend treated you well and as we start a new week I’ll keep the Question of the Day straight forward.

1971 Dodge Challenger

So dear readers, What is your favorite car from the 1970s?

Give us your take in the comments section. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”

My Take? 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6, but a 1970 Dodge Challenger isn’t too far behind. I’ve seen Vanishing Point too many times.

  1. 1971 Pontiac Barracuda Hemi.
That is my all time favorite car. I don’t ever hope to own one due to the insane prices they are going for.

  2. 1972 Monte Carlo. Drove one in high school, and wrecked it multiple times. Bought another one a couple years back, and I’m turning it into what I wanted the one I had in high school to be.

My second choice would be a 1972 Dart Swinger like “Gramps” had.

    • Since I was young, its always been the 70 SS Chevelle which I currently own. But, it was a hard choice as I’ve always loved the 69 Road Runner as well.

  3. The 1970 Impala Custom, with the top 454/TH400, bucket seat interior with the stirrup shifter- prefer the Honduras/Madeira maroon over black, but Rally green over white is cool, too. Rally wheels a must. A large, in charge barge!

  4. Same as you, 70 Chevelle LS6, 4spd, gauges, bucket seats, dark blue w/white stripes. Thats the one I dropped a $500 deposit on while home on leave from Vietnam, never got the car or my deposit because the insurance company wanted $150 a month I didn’t have that kind of money as a Sgt in the Marines in 1970.

  5. I love the 1971 Dodge Charger R/T with door gills. They are very long and shark like. The 1977 and 78 Pontiac Trans Ams from Smokey and the Bandit are also a 70’s favorite with the great camaro z28 not being quite as good. Great 70’s styling with poor build quality and performance that practically ended in 74 with the SD TA’s.

  6. Yep, a 70 Chevrolet Malibu SS454. Navy blue, white stripes and interior. Cowl Induction, all power. It was my car in 1970. The best!

  7. 71 Firebird Formula. Good friend had this metallic green one and it turned my head every time he drove by. Just a gorgeous car.

  8. So many cars from the 70s that I love. So different when the perspective of a decade is 40 or 50 years in the past. A 72 or 73 Gran Torino Sport probably tops the list. An early 70’s Plymouth Satellite or Barracuda as well as any Vette or Camaro would come a close second.
