Collecting Cars is offering a 1965 Lola T70 MK1 Spyder at their current online auction that runs through June 23. This Lola T70 made its debut at Silverstone in 1965 and competed in multiple races under the ownership of David Good.  It was raced by Roy Pierpoint at the Brands Hatch Guards International Trophy and period film exists from this event and shows the car in action.

In 1966, this Lola was used as a camera car for the filming of Steve McQueen’s unfinished F1 movie Day of the Champion driven by Sir Stirling Moss, Sir John Whitmore and, it is reported, by McQueen himself at the Nürburgring. Footage of the car can be seen in the recently released documentary Steve McQueen: The Lost Movie.

A 1993 Formula 1 racecar driven by Michael Schumacher is being offered at the upcoming Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed auction. The 1993 Benetton-Ford B193B, chassis no. B193B-04, was driven by seven-time F1 world champion Schumacher in qualifying for the British Grand Prix that season and his teammate by Riccardo Patrese drove it to a podium finish in the race.

It was raced by Patrese five times that season and was designed under the direction of Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. This F1 racecar features a Cosworth Ford HB V8 engine as used in period, and Benetton gearbox. It’s set up to be a trouble-free demonstration vehicle and the engine is slightly de-tuned. The sale includes Schumachers’s own seat molding for ’04’, Patrses signed both the chassis tub and his seat molding, Patrese’s own seat-belt, and another set of original seat belts marked for both ‘RP and ‘MS’ for Michael Schumacher.

A prototype 1975 Ford Capri RS3100 set a new world record for that model at the Classic Car Auctions Summer Sale on June 18. The RS3100 was sold for £74,250 ($91,135.93) and was built in 1972 at Ford’s Advanced Vehicle Operations facility in South Ockendon.

Ford used the prototype for studio shots on the single sheet sales brochures and the supplementary handbook. It was first registered in 1975 and acquired directly from AVO by the vendor, making it a one-owner car. After being stored for 40 years it was restored in 2022
