Pick of the Day: 2001 Mercedes-Benz CL600, once owned by Tracy McGrady

Customized by West Coast Customs

The NBA playoffs are in the conference finals and soon we’ll have an NBA Finals matchup. As I write this Miami is up 2-1 against Boston and Golden State has a 3-0 advantage over Dallas. With hoops on my mind I’ve been searching ClassicCars.com and came across a Mercedes-Benz with some NBA pedigree and hall of fame ownership.

The Pick of the Day is a custom 2001 Mercedes-Benz CL600, once owned by NBA hall of famer Tracy McGrady, available for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in St. Louis, Missouri. (Click the link to view the listing)

2001 Mercedes-Benz CL600

Drafted straight out of high school by the Toronto Raptors in 1997, McGrady found greater success after signing with the Orlando Magic in 2000. After heading to Orlando, he was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2001 and in his 14-season career he was a seven-time All-NBA selection, two-time scoring champ, and was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.

Befitting an athlete of McGrady’s stature this C215 Mercedes has received extensive customization from West Coast Customs and features high-end appointments.

“Inside, a custom silver and black Gucci cloth and leather interior greets the driver,” the listing states. “The front buckets and rear demi buckets are upholstered in this Gucci cloth and leather with matching inner door panels. The complementing black carpet and headliner are in similar shape to the seats’ condition. A four-spoke steering wheel faces the driver and wears another custom feature, more Lilac Blue. The steering wheel rim, center console and door panels are all graced with it.”

“T-Mac” logos adorn the headrests and inside the trunk lid. This Mercedes has a JVC infotainment system with a JL Audio sound system in the trunk.

Under the hood is a 5.8-liter SOHC 36-valve V12 engine (code M137) that produced a factory-rated 362 bhp when new. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

This CL600 was originally produced in September 2000 at Mercedes’ Sindelfingen, Germany plant and has 36,868 miles. The mileage is backed by an Arizona actual mileage title.

“Dressed in Lilac Blue, the car’s paint and exterior trim are in overall excellent condition,” the listing states. “The bodywork is strong and solid and comes with a Lorenzer body kit – front air dam with foglights, side air dams, a rear trunk lid spoiler and a rear window wing.”

This 2001 Mercedes-Benz CL600 is available for $53,900 and if you don’t like the NBA, or if Tracy McGrady crushed your spirit when he scored 13-points in the final 33 seconds of a game against the San Antonio Spurs, this low mileage Mercedes-Benz is a good deal.

  1. The Lilac Blue is an odd color plus unappealing. Also why would you buy a car specifically customized for someone and have “T-Mac” inscribed on the seats. Just saying.
