Robert Downey Jr. to Launch Eco-Friendly Car Restoration TV Series

The cars from RDJ's collection will be updated for the new millennium

Oscar nominated actor Robert Downey Jr. is entering the car restoration universe, but his TV series has an eco-friendly angle.

“My goal is to showcase that it’s possible to keep the integrity of classic cars while leveraging new tech and innovation to make them more eco-friendly. I’m thrilled audiences will get to see this series on discovery+ later this year,” said Robert Downey Jr.

Downey’s Dream Cars, set to be launched later this year on discovery+, follows Downey and a team of experts as they restore six classic cars from his collection to make them more eco-friendly. The cars will be updated for the new millennium, but will maintain their style and power

“We are excited to bring audiences a series that shows the spirit of who Downey is and puts his passion for the environment center stage,” said Nancy Daniels, Chief Brand Officer, Discovery and Factual. “That, and who better than Robert Downey Jr. to make eco-friendly cars look this good?”

Beyond the car restoration process the series also delves into the future of personal transportation. Downey and his team will look at previous eras of vehicle engineering and design, but will also imagine what the next decades will hold for automotive design and innovation.
