You can be cruising or blasting down the highway, but regardless of how you’re moving you have a soundtrack for the road.

So dear readers, what is your favorite driving song?

Give us your take in the comments section below. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”

  1. Take Five by Dave Brubeck while driving on mountain roads
    The whole Take Five CD

    • Yes Yes YES! Ahhh! The 60’s, Dead Man’s Curve! Remember it well! Was born in ’49, (SO glad!). 60’s, 70’s, disco 80’s best years of anyone’s life! Ty, Gary.

  2. Rush – Red Barchetta. Just listen once and you are hooked. About a future when petrol cars are banned.

“I strip away the old debris
    That hides a shining car
    A brilliant red Barchetta
    From a better vanished time
We fire up the willing engine
    Responding with a roar
    Tires spitting gravel
    I commit my weekly crime”

  3. Rhythm From A Red Car by Hardline (Journey’s Neal Schon was a member of this band when this song was released).

  4. “Life in the Fast Lane” by The Eagles and “Rockin’ Down the Highway” by the Doobie Brothers.

  5. Fly By Night by Rush, followed closely bu Tom Perry’s Running Down a Dream. RIP Neil Peart & Tom Petty.

  6. Me? I drive for miles and miles on Dire Straits Brothers in Arms – So Far Away is perfect for rolling down the road. Many a trip, scortching sun, blizzards, you name it Dire Straits all the way.

  7. Radar Love, but any song that allows me to stay focused, yet alert to the job of getting where I’m going. I also like most anything from AC/DC.

  8. “Sister Christian” by Night Ranger. Start it out of the driveway and listening to it build as you get to the on turnpike on ramp.

  9. Flirtin’ With Disaster by Molly Hatchet. A close second choice is Get Out of Denver by Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band. They both rock!

  10. “Riding the storm out”
by REO. Loved to hear that song while riding my Harley heading into storm clouds ahead.

  11. Thunder Road, 409, Little GTO, Deadmans curve, Hot-Rod Lincoln, Be cool to your school, Leader of the pack, I can’t drive 55, and anything by Enigma.

  12. I drop the top and bury the needle in my 66 chevy corvair while listening to ‘ticket to ride’ by the Beatles!

  13. My most memorable music while driving moment, was when bombing down Rt 110 in my ’60 impala. I was a senior in high school, and we had a local oldies station. I heard “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry for the first time! Man, it was so “goode”, I had to pull over so I could catch every note!

  14. Mine changes as soon as the next is even better but currently it’s “Almost Home” by Sultan and Shepard as I cruise down in my 2008 C6 Z51…
