O'Ward wins at Barber Motorsports Park

-

Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover was rain delayed after 78 laps. The DuraMAX Drydene 400 will continue on Monday at 12:00 p.m. (ET). At the time of the rain delay Kyle Larson was running first, followed by Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr. and William Byron.

Pato O’Ward led 27 laps and notched his first win of the season at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama. O’Ward was .98 seconds ahead of Alex Palou, with Rinus VeeKay, Will Power and Scott Dixon rounding out the top five at Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday.

“I wanted to do it for these guys, for Arrow, for McLaren SP, Team Chevy’” O’Ward said. “I was tired of being 10th and 11th and fifth, so I said, ‘Let’s get a win under our belts so we can claw our way back into the championship fight.”

Palou tops the season standings with 144-points after four races. Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden, Will Power, and O’Ward round out the top five in the season standings.

Formula E was at Monaco on Saturday afternoon and Mercedes’ Stoffel Vandoorne ruled the street course with a 1.285 second win over Mitch Evans. It was Vandoorne’s first win of the season and third of his career.

Vandoorne currently leads the season standings with Jean-Eric Vergne, Mitch Evans, Robin Frijns and Edoardo Mortara rounding out the top five.

News and Notes:

The FIA and Formula E unveiled the third-generation racecar. The Gen3 racecar is engineered specifically for street racing and will make its debut next season. Development of the Gen 3 racecar has led to the fastest Formula E car ever with a top speed of more than 200 mph, and will have front and rear powertrains.

“The Gen3 represents the ambitious third age of Formula E and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship,” Alejandro Agag, founder and chairman of Formula E said: With every generation of race car we push the boundaries of possibility in EV technology further and the Gen3 is our most ambitious project to date.”
