The NASCAR Cup Series is at the Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City Dirt Race and Formula One has the weekend off before the Italian Grand Prix on April 24th.
The two racing series rarely cross paths and only hold a race at the same track once a year, Circuit of the Americas. NASCAR and F1 are distinctly different racing disciplines, and very few drivers have had success in both series but Juan Pablo Montoya won seven races in F1 during his career with Williams and McLaren and raced in the NASCAR Cup Series for nine seasons and won two races.
“You know, in F1, the cars were unbelievable,” Montoya said in a Parade magazine interview. “Nothing drives like an F1 car. But the racing was terrible, because the cars are so even, and they’re so air-dependent that it’s not easy to pass. In NASCAR racing, the cars aren’t as good as you want them, but the racing’s unbelievable.”
I trust Montoya’s opinion on these matters due to his success in both series, but ultimately I prefer watching F1.
So dear readers, do you prefer NASCAR or Formula One? Why do you prefer one over the other?
