The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction kicked off on Thursday morning with collector car lovers and automotive fans heading to the South Florida Fairgrounds for the start of the 3-day event. Almost 200 of the near 700 vehicles on this year’s no reserve docket went across the auction block and the top sellers from Thursday shows the wide variety of vehicles available for car collectors.

Thursday’s highest hammer price was the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Collectors Series First-Production VIN whose sale benefits SAE Foundation, which brings automotive engineers and related technical experts into classrooms to provide STEM education solutions.  The winning bidder, businessman Tim Whited, purchased a first-production Cadillac CTS V-Sport in 2013 with the proceeds also going to the SAE Foundation. Whited will work directly with Cadillac to customize the configuration of his new vehicle.

The 2022 Ford Shelby GT500, one of 1,250 “Golden Ticket” Shelbys with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, sold for $185,000 with 100% of the hammer price going to John Hopkins University’s Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center to support pancreatic cancer research.

Barrett-Jackson’s 2022 Palm Beach Auction continues today for Day 2 of the three-day event. Live television broadcast of the event will be on FYI from 12-7 p.m. ET and the entire broadcast may also be streamed outside of the U.S. on BarrettJackson.tv.
