Falken Tyre Europe GmbH is partnering with the online racing platform iRacing for the Falken GT4 Challenge. The winner of the sim racing championship will receive a set of Falken tires for their road car.
“This is not the first time we have participated in virtual racing,” said Dennis Wilstermann, marketing supervisor at Falken Tyre Europe. “Virtual racing suits us very well, our values such as performance, team spirit and passion also apply here.”
iRacing is a racing simulator online video game released in 2008. The subscription-based racing game offers more than 100 tracks from around the world, including Nürburgring, Indianapolis, Silverstone, dirt tracks, and Daytona International Speedway.
Manufacturers like Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren, Chevrolet, and Ford have licensed their cars for use in the game.
A variety of race cars are available for use in iRacing:
- NASCAR Cup cars from 1987 to 2018
- GT cars
- Australian SuperCars
- F1, IndyCar and various open wheel racecars
- Dirt track Late Model, Sprint and Midget racers
- Le Mans Prototypes
- Rallycross and offroad vehicles
As of April 2020, there were more than 160,000 active iRacing subscribers.
