RM Sotheby’s links with Canossa Events

Italian-based automotive events company has acquired the Cavallino Classic and plans to duplicate format in Italy and Dubai


Collector car auction house RM Sotheby’s has signed on as primary sponsor and auction partner for Canossa Events and its expanding portfolio of events. Canossa Events recently acquired the Cavallino Classic, a major Ferrari event scheduled for January 20-23 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Canossa also has announced two new events, the Cavallino Classic Modena to be held in July in Italy and the Cavallino Classic Middle East for December, 2022. Like the Florida event, which has been held for the past 42 years, the new events will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Italian sports car company founded by Enzo Ferrari. 

Other Canossa Events include Modena Cento Ore (vintage racing), Terre di Canossa (rally) and Stella Alpina (rally), among others.

“I am very glad to announce our new partnership with the leading auction house firm RM Sotheby’s,” Canossa and Cavallino chairman Luigi Orlandini is quoted in the announcement. “We have been friends and partners for the last ten years at the Modena Cento Ore. We share the same values and passions, and I can’t think of a better way to further develop our friendship than with Cavallino Classic.”

“Ferrari is a special brand, and this partnership allows us to further support and celebrate our relationship with the marque,” added Augustin Sabatié-Garat, RM Sotheby’s director of sales for the UK and Europe. “RM Sotheby’s is the established world leader in auctioning fine Ferrari cars, having offered seven of the top 10 most valuable Ferraris ever sold at auction. To be able to support the Cavallino Classic, and help enthusiasts celebrate the marque at such a leading event, is fantastic for us.”

Canossa launched in 2011 with a four-person team and has grown to a staff of 130 who stage 250 events a year. It is based at Casa Canossa, an historic building in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and has offices in Florida, Connecticut and the United Arab Emirates.
