Pick of the Day: 1966 Chrysler Newport family owned since new

Seller’s father took original delivery of this hardtop

-

The Pick of the Day is a 1966 Chrysler Newportadvertised on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Las Cruces, New Mexico, whose father ordered the car back in November 1965.

The car is a 2-door hardtop with its stock 383cid V8 engine and Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission.  According to The Standard Catalog of American Cars, in 1967 the engine was rated at 270 horsepower.

The seller notes that the car has “mid-range option packages.”

“I purchased this car from my father in 1974 for my enjoyment,” the seller continues. “It will be sold with a collection of service and personal papers I call its ‘baby book.’

“Garaged mostly in Ohio (the car was sold originally by a dealership in Cincinnati) and New Mexico, the car has original paint — some fading, original upholstery — some wear/tear, has been maintained, there are nicks, scratches, chips, minor rust, hood dent and bent antenna.”

You can see those scratches and nicks in the photos that are part of the car’s advertisement.

The car comes with various Mopar parts, tires and “miscellaneous items” in the trunk.

“I will gladly share any information I remember concerning this vehicle with the purchaser,” the seller adds. “This a stock production car used by my family. It is important to me that the third owner of this Newport appreciate and enjoy it as I have these many years.”

The odometer shows nearly 90,000 miles and the Chrysler is being offered for $20,000.
