Torque Media has finished the first of its video reports on the 2021 Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week, this one featuring The Tour:
Audrain to sponsor Goodwood Members’ Meeting
Audrain Motorsports, a division of the group that includes a car museum and concours in Rhode Island, has announced a deal that makes it the present sponsor for the next four years of the annual Goodwood Members’ Meeting vintage racing weekend at the Goodwood Circuit in England.
“When we revived the Members’ Meeting in 2014, we wanted to recapture the intimacy and camaraderie of the members-only race weekends held at Goodwood Motor Circuit from 1949-66, for our wonderfully supportive GRRC Members and Fellows,” the Duke of Richmond is quoted in the announcement. “Audrain Motorsport absolutely shares Goodwood’s philosophy for creating and sharing exceptional motoring experiences, and I am delighted to welcome them as presenting partner for the Members’ Meeting.”
Dine with the designers at Hilton Head
Designers past and present from Ford, General Motors and Pixar have agreed to provide a “behind the scenes” glimpse into their work in a special fund-raising event scheduled for 6:30 p.m. November 6 as part of the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival in South Carolina.
The dine-with-the-designers event will be held at the Harbour Town Clubhouse at The Sea Pines Resort and will benefit Driving Young America, the concours program that supports charities and automotive education.
Earlier in the day, the designers will take part in a “greatest hits tour,” from 11:15 a.m. until noon as they tour the show field at the Car Club Showcase and discuss the design of selected vehicles.
Designers agreeing to take part — and to have some original sketches put up for auction at the event — include Michael Simcoe, head of design at General Motors; Moray Callum, former vice president at Ford; Craig Metros, former Ford truck design director; Jay Ward, creative director of the Cars franchise at Pixar Animation Studios; and Kip Wasenko, former GM designer.
The Hilton Head concours also announced a film festival and ‘80s car display for November 4 at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.
How Smart is this show?
Hundreds of Smart cars are expected to turn out at Britain’s National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on November 7 for the “Simply Smart” show.
And inside the museum, the exhibit “Bond in Motion — No Time to Die” opens October 15.
Road America featured on Wisconsin license plate
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has approved a “special recognition” license plate honoring the Road America race track. Personalized plates with the track outline also are available, the track announced.
