AutoHunter Spotlight: 1956 Ford Thunderbird

Second year T-Bird finished in Peacock Blue

-

Up for auction on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a single-family owned 1956 Ford Thunderbird that wears the “XC” trim code.

“The Ford Thunderbird debuted as a 1955 model with V8 power, a removable fiberglass top, and rear fender skirts,” AutoHunter notes in the car’s listing. “Ford revised it for 1956 by adding vents to the front fenders for improved cabin ventilation, adding portholes to the removable hardtop to increase outward visibility, moving the spare tire to the outside of the vehicle to increase trunk space, and relocating the dual exhaust outlets to the ends of the rear bumper.”

This example is finished in Peacock Blue, a color that was only used for the 1956 Thunderbird, and is topped with a removable white hardtop with portholes.

The interior is fitted with a Peacock Blue and white interior accented with metallic trim found on the door panels and dashboard. It’s equipped with a telescoping steering column connected to power steering, manual windows and an AM radio.

Power comes from a 312cid “Y-block” V8 linked with a 3-speed manual overdrive transmission.

The odometer shows 44,702, which the seller notes are original.

This Thunderbird’s auction ends October 18 at 11:20 a.m. PDT.
