AutoHunter Spotlight: 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire

Numbers-matching convertible powered by a 394cid V8 engine

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a one-year-only design 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire that’s one of 7,149 convertibles made for the model year.

“For the 1962 model year, Oldsmobile redesigned the Starfire by giving it a single line of brightwork down the center of its hood and different ‘Oldsmobile’ lettering, a revised grille, different metallic side trim with a ribbed accent panel on each door, and an altered rear end,” AutoHunter notes on the Starfire’s listing.

Finished in Garnet Mist with a power-folding white convertible top, the body wears a chrome-ringed slotted grille with a Starfire badge in the center, quad headlights, a chrome front bumper, full-length side trim bars and quad oval taillights.

The interior is equipped with red metallic seats with pleated inserts with matching door panels, center console and dash.

Interior amenities include an aftermarket Vintage Air AC system that reportedly blows “ice cold,” according to the seller, courtesy lighting and power steering, power windows and driver’s seat.

Power comes from a rebuilt, numbers-matching 394cid V8 linked with a 3-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

This Starfire’s auction ends October 14 at 11:40 a.m. PDT.
