It’s time to dust off your old photo albums and reminisce over the good ‘ol days, and doing so can provide you the chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card and a signed copy of photographer Rick Mack’s book, Van Nuys Blvd 1971, in American Collectors Insurance “Glory Days” photo contest.
The contest, which opened September 24, was inspired by the insurance company’s recent interview with Mack, whose book presents photos he captured on Van Nuys Boulevard in 1972 while young Californians were out cruising in what now are considered classic cars.
“I think that I have really captured that time when we were able to interact in a public a space and be visible to each other,” Mack tells American Collectors Insurance in the interview.
“It was fun and you can see from the pictures that people were having a good time and there really isn’t anything that’s comparable now. Your car is part of your identity and having one is part of our identity and it was part of your freedom.”

The submission deadline is Thursday, October 7, and public voting for the top-10 photos runs October 8-18. After voting closes, American Collectors Insurance will pick the three winners.
