ACD and IMS aren’t the only car museums in Indiana

Our weekly roundup of car museum news and notes

Indiana has the Auburn Cord Duesenberg and Indianapolis Motor Speedway museums, but there’s another facility in the state’s capital with a car collection. It’s the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites collection.

The state museum’s car collection was featured on Collector Car Day by television station WTHR.

According to the museum’s manager of communication, Renee Bruck, the collection includes not only vehicles, but related 3-dimensional objects and reference material. Those 3-D objects are the various auto parts produced in Indiana, including radiators, headlights, gas pumps and much more.

As for cars, they include such vehicles as Maxwells, Haynes, Lambert and even Sears autos from the 1920s, a Stutz AA, a mid-century Studebaker Champion, even a 21st century Th!nk City electric car. The museum’s emphasis is on vehicles and auto parts, achievements and inventions by Hoosiers.
