Pebble Beach brings out fascinating fascinators

Fascinators is the name for showy women’s headwear that’s popular with the concours crowd

-

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance isn’t just a showcase for amazing cars, but, like the Kentucky Derby, has become a place for the display of the flamboyant women’s hats known as “fascinators.”

One woman said she spent thousands of dollars for a fascinator to wear at Pebble, and the headwear was available for sale at one of the booths in the event’s RetroAuto shopping area.

Strolling the Pebble Beach show field is a step back in time to enjoy not only automotive history but fashion that reminds you of the period when many of the cars were produced.

  1. Stick to cars and what you know. Only 2 or 3 of these hats are “Fascinators” – the rest have other elegant names. Facts matter.
