As summer break comes to a close, kids across the country are gearing up to return to the classroom. Knowing that the first day back is dreaded by most kids, Doyle-Ryder Elementary school in Flint, Michigan, surprised its students with a lineup of classic and collector cars to boost spirits.
“The first day of school here is a huge celebration,” the school’s principal Natoya Coleman was quoted in MLive’s story about the event. “We want to make sure students know that we are excited to have them…We have the cars here to show students something new and have something exciting on their first day.”
After a half-day Wednesday, August 4, classrooms took turns checking out a collection of vintage Corvettes, Impalas and a Polaris Slingshot displayed on the school’s basketball courts.
While picking out their favorite classics among the bunch, the kids were also greeted with loud music, extra time on the playground and snacks.
