A 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 took top honors at the Artcurial Motorcars Monaco 2021 collector car auction staged July 19 at the Hôtel Hermitage in Monte Carlo. The Lamborghini sold for $1,153,332 to a European collector, the Paris-based auction house reported.
Overall, the auction generated $7,736,849 in sales.
“In a difficult context, we are delighted to have succeeded in holding a physical sale of high quality automobiles, with public viewing of all 120 lots, in which collectors have distinguished themselves with passion and panache,” Artcurial managing director Matthieu Lamoure was quoted in the post-auction news release.
The sale was proceeded by three days of vehicle previews with cars at the Fontvielle port or at the Musée de la Collection de SAS le Prince de Monaco.
Joining the Lamborghini among the top-5 sales were a 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Laundaulet that brought $762,398 from a Middle Eastern buyer, a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 that sold for $597,788, a 1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 in Pioneer rally colors that went for $323,556, and a 1968 Lamborghini 25th anniversary Countach that sold for $323,556.
All auction results include buyer’s fee.
The Aston Martin, Peugeot and Countach were purchased by European bidders, Articurial noted. The auction house also noted that the DB5 had been preserved in non-running condition by its consigning owner for the past 42 years.
Artcurial’s next auction is scheduled for October in Paris.
