Huracan EVO begins service as ‘follow-me’ vehicle at Italian airport

-

Pilots flying into the Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna, Italy, probably feel pretty special. The reason is that the airport’s “follow me” car is a Lamborghini.

The sports car producer and the nearby airport are on their seventh such vehicle with the recent delivery of a Huracan EVO to guide arriving and departing aircraft to and from the parking apron and taxiway.

“The Huracán EVO follow-me car, a super sports car with an aspirated 640-horsepower, 5.2-liter V10 engine, features a livery specially designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile,” the automaker notes in its news release.

It adds: “The checkered design in Arancione Matt, reminiscent of the operating vehicles in aircraft maneuvering areas, emerges from a base of Verde Turbine Matt. The exterior is completed with the writing ‘Follow Me in Our Beautiful Country’ highlighted by the Italian flag.”

The car also is equipped with flashing warning lights and a radio connected to the airport control tower.
