Audi isn’t waiting for a major auto show for the US debut of its 2022 RS e-tron GT electric-powered performance car. Instead, it will showcase the car April 25 at the Malibu Cars and Coffee, scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon (Pacific) at the Malibu Kitchen, 3900 Cross Creek Road in the tony Southern California beach community.
The e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT are scheduled to arrive at Audi’s US dealerships this summer.
Audi says the RS e-tron GT offers 590 horsepower, or as much as 637 with overboost launch-control engaged. With 612 pound-feet of torque, the car springs to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph.
“That places the acceleration of RS e-tron GT on par with the V10-powered Audi R8 supercar – all while generating zero direct emissions,” Audi notes.
Meanwhile, the e-tron GT version offers 469 horsepower — or as much as 522 horsepower with overboost — and 464 pound-feet of torque and accelerates to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
The cars will have a range of more than 230 miles and using public DC fast chargers can be recharged from 5 percent to 80 percent in little more than 20 minutes, “among the quickest charging rates currently available of any EV.”
