Though they both are pickup trucks and are badged as the Ford Ranger, the version sold in the US and the one sold in the UK and Europe are not the same vehicle.
For example, Ford of England just announced two new and limited-edition double-cab versions of its Ranger, the Stormtrak and the Wolftrak.
The Stormtrak gets a premium leather interior, 213-horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine and 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Wolftrak, which wears “Conquer Grey” paint, comes with an electronically locking rear differential, all-terrain tires and matte-black trim.
A new electrically operated pickup bed Power Roller Shutter (bed cover) is standard equipment on the Stormtrak and optional on the Wildtrack. Both vehicles go on sale this fall in the UK and across Europe, where the Ranger is the best-selling pickup truck with around a 35 percent share of the pickup truck market.
In addition to the standard Ranger models, the truck already is offered in Raptor, rally-inspired MS-RT and as a chassis cab in the European market.
“Customers love the bold style and tough capability of our Ranger pick-up, so we’ve developed the new Stormtrak and Wolftrak limited edition models to offer even more of both,” Hans Schep, general manager for commercial vehicles for Ford of Europe is quoted in the news release.
“Stormtrak combines striking looks with added luxury touches and features for active lifestyles, while Wolftrak’s rugged off-road performance helps it comfortably take owners far off the beaten track for work and fun.”
The new power roller shutter is an electrically operated bed cover that opens or closes via the key fob, buttons in the pickup bed or on the dashboard. It features sensors that provide anti-pinch protection for fingers or cargo.
