“Launch Edition” has become an important marketing tag line for automakers. It’s not enough to offer a new vehicle model or trim level, but to make it an even more-expensive limited-edition Launch Edition with special equipment.
TVR, Kia, Ram and Jeep, as well as electric newcomers Rivian and Watt, are just a few who brought, or are bringing, new models to market with Launch Edition versions. The latest is Lexus, unveiling the 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition.

Performance comes from a 472-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine and the F Sport Dynamic Handling Package. Launch Edition exclusive features include the new “Incognito” paint color, two-tone black-and-gray Ultrasuede interior trim, 19-inch matte-black BBFS wheels and serialized Launch Edition badging for the 500-unit limited run.
The 2022 IS 500 F Sport also will come in a Performance version.
“More information regarding MSRP and available options will be made available closer to launch,” Lexus added. “The 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance and IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition are expected to arrive in dealerships later this Fall.”
