Bonhams’ new Supercars on Sunset auction set for April in Los Angeles

Rare 1,000-horsepower Saleen joins special-edition Porsches and Ferraris in early consignments

-

Bonham has announced a new auction called Supercars on Sunset, a Los Angeles sale that will focus on modern exotics and rare examples of ultra-high performance.

The event is scheduled to take place April 10 as a Live & Online auction at Bonhams’ Los Angeles gallery. In-person inspection of the cars can be reserved for April 8 and 9 at the nearby Petersen Automotive Museum on Wilshire Boulevard.

“This new sale concept will provide the ideal opportunity for the innovative collector to invest in the most exciting high-performance machines of the modern era which are at the same time emerging as collectors’ cars, being increasingly appreciated for their design, engineering and overall impact on automotive culture,” Jakob Greisen, Bonhams vice president and head of US Motoring, said in a news release.

The Saleen has been driven just 300 miles

An early highlight of the auction is a 2007 Saleen S7-LM, a home-grown California supercar, as well as one of only three examples of the 1,000-horsepower special-edition sports coupe built.  Estimated value: $1 million to $1.3 million

“We are very excited to present this all-American supercar in the Bonhams Supercars on Sunset auction,” Greisen added.

The Saleen is a one-owner car that has been driven just 300 miles since new, Bonhams says.  The supercar, reportedly capable of 248 mph, is finished in silver with a black leather interior, aluminum and yellow accents, butterfly doors and an adjustable rear spoiler.

Other highlights thus far include:

2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale – This contemporary race-inspired road car has covered fewer than 8,100 miles from new and has been carefully serviced and maintained by its single owner.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS – This 911 was initially delivered new to comedian and well-known Porsche enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld, with exclusive factory options worth more than $250,000, including “paint-to-sample” liquid chrome blue metallic paintwork.

Bidding for Supercars on Sunset can be done live onsite or with real-time online while watching the auctioneer and videos of cars on offer, Bonhams said. Absentee and telephone bidding also will be available
