RM Sotheby’s sale of Ferrari racing memorabilia exceeds $2 million

A full-scale Ferrari SF1000 show car topped the 16-item online sale

The RM Sotheby’s auction celebrating Scuderia Ferrari’s milestone 1,000th Grand Prix participation reached an impressive €1,680,840 ($2,043,657) from 16 lots of significant Ferrari racing memorabilia and track experiences.

The top-selling item, a full-scale Ferrari SF1000 Formula 1 display car, sold for a surprising €1,272,000 ($1,546,300), more than six times the pre-sale high estimate of €200,000 ($243,000). 

The non-running showpiece was hand-signed by team drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel. 

The auction, named Online Only: Once in a Millennium, was held in celebration of Scuderia Ferrari’s milestone 1,000th Grand Prix, which took place at Mugello, Italy, on September 11-13. The Italian team raced its first World Championship Grand Prix in Monaco on May 21, 1950.

All the items were sold at no reserve, with some of them doubling their pre-sale estimates. A racing suit signed by Leclerc made an incredible €63,600 ($77,315) against its pre-sale high estimate of €15,000 ($18,135).
