Naran unveils styling of 4-seat, front-engine supercar

1,000-plus horsepower promised from British car’s turbocharged German V8

-

Well, here’s a different twist on the supercar phenomenon: London-based Naran Automotive has unveiled the exterior design of the Naran, a 4-seat “hypercar” with its engine placed in front of the cockpit. The company plans to produce 49 of its hyper coupes, which it says will post 0-to-60 sprints in 2.3 seconds with top speeds of 230 mph.

The car is scheduled for availability in 2021, the company said.

“Naran Automotive, the new manufacturer of luxury ultra-high-performance cars, has revealed the exterior design of its first model – The Naran,” the company proclaimed in its announcement.

“The four-seater hyper-coupé will deliver an authentic GT3-style driving experience for the road when it arrives next year, combining the uncompromising performance and dynamics of a track-focused hypercar, with opulent ultra-luxurious materials inside and out.”

It added that each vehicle will be built to suit the tastes of its buyer, a sales model much like that used for the construction of a yacht, it noted.

The company added that the Naran design was done by Jowyn Wong, of Wyn Design and the designer of the Apollo IE and De Tomaso P72. Interior materials were selected by former Aston Martin Lagonda designer Kate Montgomery.

Power for the Nara will come from a twin-turbocharged German-based Racing Dynamics V8, displacing 5.0 liters and rated at 1,048 horsepower. Suspension, braking and steering are derived from race car technology, the news release continued, and the car will have 1,377 kilograms of track-grasping downforce. Naran will feature all-wheel drive. Vehicle dynamics were developed by Daniel Mense, “renowned for his work on the NIO EP9 – the electric car Nürburgring lap record breaker.”

Naran Automotive said the car’s body will feature “industry-first flax carbon composites in expressive material inserts across the exterior, with the natural fibers giving each of the 49 examples a tailored finish. The biodegradable flax composite is ultra-lightweight and not only provides a unique aesthetic in visual form, with a range of finishes available, but also delivers improved vibration damping over carbon fiber.”

Our vision is to create the most beautiful and thrilling cars in existence, inspiring future generations to pursue their wildest dreams,” company founder and 34-year-old chief executive Ameerh Naran is quoted.

“With The Naran, we are creating a unique ownership experience and a new perspective on shared driving experiences — a GT3-inspired, driver-focused, front-mid engined 2+2 hyper-coupé, that delivers unrivaled material innovation and a commitment to reviving the analogue driving experience. The Naran is the true embodiment of art on wheels, designed and developed by some of the greatest minds in the industry.”
