Video of the Day: Ralph Lauren hosts visit to his fabulous dream garage

Dozens of the world’s greatest automobiles are seen during a NY Fashion Week presentation

Fashion mogul Ralph Lauren has what’s considered to be among the finest car collections in the world, comprising wildly valuable sports and racing machines of Europe.  Roughly valued at $350 million, Lauren’s “dream garage” collection is housed in a vast structure in Bedford, New York.

Just in case you’re never invited to join the glitterati for a tour of “Ralph’s Garage,” here’s a look at the stunning cars, each placed on a pedestal like a work of art, which they surely are.

Part of Lauren’s vast ‘garage’ space

Among them, such eye poppers as his fleet of great Ferraris, including a 250 GTO and a 250 Testa Rossa; a 1938 Bugatti 57CSC Atlantic; Jaguar XKSS and D-type; Aston Martin DB5 cabriolet; Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing coupe and, well, you get the idea.  These are the crème de la crème.

The video was shot by Carjam TV during a fashion show that took place in 2017 amidst Lauren’s illustrious automobiles, before a crowd of celebrities and fashionistas celebrating New York Fashion Week.

“People always want to come and see the garage and I thought it was an interesting time to do something different,” Lauren says in the video.

While the cars are timeless, the fashions are not – the video was shot three years ago, which is like an eon in fashion time.

The video starts out gazing at the terrific collection, but about half way through, it eventually settles into scenes from the fashion show.  But the cars are still gorgeous, as are the fashion models strutting past them.

Lauren waxes philosophical about the connection between great classic automobiles and high fashion, noting, “I think that mixing the art of the cars and the fashion of the clothes is exciting.”
