Video of the Day: 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO on the streets of London

The freshly restored classic worth many millions is taking for a brisk drive

-

The incredible sights and sounds of a freshly restored 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO are celebrated in this video, which shows the mondo-million-dollar vintage race car being driven with brio through the tight streets of London, amidst traffic and parked cars.

It’s slightly nerve wracking after watching too many of those Russian dash-cam crash videos.  I kept waiting for someone to make a bad move and turn into the path of this most luscious of classic Ferraris.  Fortunately, all goes well.

The video shows the Ferrari GTO being driven along, trailing the brilliant exhaust note of its high-revving V12, punctuated by many sequences shot from the passenger seat.

According to the note with the video, this is quite a special Ferrari:

“Not just any 250 GTO, but the second one to be built, and the first to ever go racing (chassis number 3387GT), fresh from a full restoration at Joe Macari. You can hear the incredible V12 alive and kicking as we cruise through London’s streets, one of just 36 of these beautiful cars ever built.”
