Fastest half-mile auto track in the world rediscovered

Jackson International Speedway gained world record in 1970

-

The Video of the Day travels to Clinton, Mississippi, with Mobile Instinct to rediscover Jackson International Speedway, once the fastest half-mile in the world, but abandoned since 1986.

“Sad to see it in this condition however I’m also glad it wasn’t bulldozed for a new shopping center,” we learn. “This abandoned racetrack sits in the woods completely out of sight and forgotten. Only memories and a few pictures remain of this once popular racetrack. Bobby Harrell put this place on the map with his 1970 world record lap time for 1/2 mile oval.”
