Holiday movie alternatives: ‘On Any Sunday’

-

Editor’s note: As 2018 drew to a close, we shared our favorite car movies as an alternative to the Hallmark holiday movies that some people watch this time of year. So this year we’re adding a twist to the series, sharing the 10-favorite motorcycle movies selected in a poll of the ClassicCars.com Journal staff. The series begins today with No. 1 On Any Sunday.

Released in 1971, On Any Sunday is a documentary about motorcycle racing that seeks to answer the question, “Why do they do it?”

The film was done by Bruce Brown, who had created, among others, the surfing movie Endless Summer, and was nominated for an Academy Award. The production was underwritten by Steve McQueen’s Solar Productions and McQueen is among the racers featured in the film.
