Holiday movie alternatives: ‘Quadraphenia’

Editor’s note: As 2018 drew to a close, we shared our favorite car movies as an alternative to the Hallmark holiday movies that some people watch this time of year. So this year we’re adding a twist to the series, sharing the 10-favorite motorcycle movies selected in a poll of the ClassicCars.com Journal staff. The series begins today with No. 7 Quadraphenia.

Released in 1979, Quadrophenia turns back the clock to the mid-1960s when, “Like many other youths, Jimmy hates the philistine life, especially his parents and his job in a company’s mailing division,” reports the imdb.com website. 

“Only when he’s together with his friends, a ‘Mod’ clique, cruising London on his motor scooter and hearing music such as that of ‘The Who’ and ‘The High Numbers,’ does he feel free and accepted. 

“However, it’s a flight into an illusionary world.”
