Editor’s note: As 2018 drew to a close, we shared our favorite car movies as an alternative to the Hallmark holiday movies that some people watch this time of year. So this year, we’re adding a twist to the series, sharing the 10 favorite motorcycle movies selected in a poll of the ClassicCars.com Journal staff. The series begins today with No. 10, Little Fauss and Big Halsy.
Starring Robert Redford as Halsy Knox and Michael J. Pollard at Little Fauss and Big Halsy follows the exploits of two motorcycle racers and their interest in Rita Nebraska, played by Lauren Hutton.
Released in 1970, the follows the friendship of Halsey, a professional racer who has been banned from racing, and Fauss, an amateur who has sustained a broken leg. They agree that Halsey will race under Fauss’ name, with Fauss serving as the mechanic.
The partnership falls apart as both pursue Nebraska.
The movie not only features three stars, but the title song, The Ballard of Little Fauss and Big Halsy, was written by Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Bob Dylan, and it was nominated for a Golden Globe.
