Don’t drink and drive could be theme for RM Sotheby’s London sale

Remember, don’t drink and drive, but if you’re attending RM Sotheby’s annual London auction of collector cars October 24 at the Olympia event space in West Kensington, London, you might also be interested in Sotheby’s sale of The Ultimate Whisky Collection taking place in the same venue.

RM Sotheby’s has announced a docket that includes 84 collector cars, a motorcycle and several lots of automobilia.

2003 Ferrari Enzo

Meanwhile, starting at 10 a.m. London time that same day, and in the same venue, Sotheby’s Wine will offer what it terms “the most valuable collection of whisky ever to be offered at auction and the company’s first single-owner offering of spirits.”

Expected to generate £4 million ($4.92 million) in sales, the docket of Scotch whisky includes 394 lots including The Macallan 1926 60 Years Old from Cask #263, “known as ‘The ‘Holy Grail’ of Whisky,” the auction company said. For details, visit the whisky auction website.

1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante

At 5:30 p.m. London time that evening, RM Sotheby’s 13th annual London sale begins with a docket led by a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, a 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante and a 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupe Villa d’Este.

The Ferrari Enzo is a European-delivery vehicle (chassis 135870), has recently been freshened after several years of storage. It has Rosso Corso paint over a Nero leather interior.

Other Ferrari’s on the docket include a 1994 412 T1 from the Autobau Collection, a 7,757-mile 1972 Dino 245 GT by Scaglietti, complete with “chairs and flairs” (flared wheel wells and Daytona-style seats); a 1961 250 GTE 2+2 Series I by Pininfarina, chassis 2947 and still with its original engine; and a 2018 488 GTB 70th Anniversary model showing only delivery mileage.

The 1968 DB6 Volante is one of only 140 produced and was restored by Aston Martin Works. The 2017 Zagato Coupe is the 19th of 99 produced and has been driven only 22 miles, RM Sotheby’s notes.
