A major presence along the 18th Fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links won’t be present during Monterey Car Week 2019. The Automotive Fine Arts Society exhibition is moving from a large tent to downtown Carmel, where it will be open throughout the week at the New Masters Gallery.

The AFAS exhibition, termed “Old Masters at the New Masters,” opens August 10 and runs through August 17, open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., though with a special reception for the artists from 4 until 6:30 p.m. on the 17th.

The gallery is located on Delores Street between Ocean Avenue and 7th Street in Carmel-By-The-Sea.

The gallery offers plenty of space and week-long timeframe for exhibition

Ken Eberts will show two of his paintings, Rapid Transit, featuring at Shelby GT350 at the Santa Fe Depot in San Diego and Surfer Essentials, with a 1939 Chevrolet Woody on a beach.

Also featured are works by Dan McCrary, including Birdcage, a watercolor that celebrates the Maserati Tipo 61, and Formerly Elegant, also a watercolor featuring a 1960 Lincoln Continental “in a sad state of decay,” McCrary said.

“The irony is that this rusted hulk could well have been an elegant coach that transported the elites of society to their formal evenings out. Now it is just a forgotten cast off.”

Stanley Rose will show three new blue-themed paintings featuring musicians and cars. His subjects are Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker.
