The 1967 Chevrolet Impala moved up to the most-searched vehicle on the ClassicCars.com marketplace in June, but the big news involved the Volkswagen “van/bus” moving to No. 1 in “all years” searches.
Also soaring in “all years” searches in June was the DeLorean DMC12, from not among the top-10 to 4th behind the VW van, Chevrolet and Ford and, significantly, leap-frogging the popular Ford Mustang in “all-year” searches.
“The obvious increase in searches for DeLoreans relates to the release of the new movie, Framing John DeLorean,” said Roger Falcione, founder and president of ClassicCars.com.
“As for the Volkswagen van, there has been a lot interest of late in those vehicles, in part because Volkswagen is getting ready to launch a new and electric-powered version, in part because of the soaring prices vintage VW vans are demanding at auction and at collector car dealerships and in private-sales transactions.”
Also among the top 10 in “all year” searches in June was the Volkswagen dune buggy.
In the year-specific searches, the ’67 Impala edged ahead of the May leader, the 1969 Dodge Charger, with the 1967 Ford Mustang continuing in third place.
The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro bumped up one spot to fourth while the 1968 Mustang jumped from 10th place in May to fifth in June.
