Tire-producer Pirelli and athletic shoemaker Puma have contributed their expertise to create a shoe designed “to control the grip off and on track.” The Replicat-X, they say, was inspired by modern sports cars. It launches May 15.
Calling the design “revolutionary,” the companies said the shoe has “a completely fresh silhouette made with a sole and upper construction that helps you to control the grip off and on track.”
The shoe also launches a new Puma motorsports design philosophy of “bringing racing to the road.”
The shoe has an oversized full rubber outsole, perforated Microfiber-suede upper on the vamp, lateral mesh panels for breathability, and a molded sock liner. It features the same tread pattern as Pirelli’s Cinturato Blue tires, which are designed to maximize traction on wet racing surfaces.
The shoes retail for $120.
