Days of Thunder is your typical film about a long-shot racer who beats the odds to win the big race, but it does so in thrilling fashion with a notable cast.
The 1990 film was led by Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, with supporting cast that included Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Carly Elwes and others.
The plot, as mentioned, is basic: Up-and-coming driver Cole Trickle is looking to make a splash in the racing world. His dream is to win the Indianapolis 500, but he’s recruited to drive in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series instead.
Trickle struggles initially but learns to win from his crew chief, Harry Hogge. Along his eventual road to victory, Trickle makes a friend out of an enemy and is given a surprise path to race against his main rival.
It’s standard Hollywood, but the racing scenes are sure to get anyone’s adrenaline pumping.
