Barrett-Jackson countdown: Custom 1958 Chevrolet Apache pickup

Two years ago, this custom 1958 Chevrolet Apache was part of the Battle of the Builders at SEMA. Now, it’s Lot No. 678 in Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction.

Under the hood sits a 1958 Chevrolet 437cid stroker W-block engine equipped with 409 steel cylinder heads, Comp Cams valves, custom pushrods, spring and solid rollers, Edelbrock dual-quad intake manifold, dual 500 cfm Edelbrock carburetors, Edelbrock water pump, MSD wiring and March Performance pulleys, drive accessories and alternator, among a long list of other tweaks.

The truck has a 1977 Chevrolet TH350 automatic transmission with a Hughes Performance torque converter, Lokar shifter, B&M shift kit and a custom driveshaft. It also has a Ford 9-inch rear end and Moser axels.

Sitting on a custom chassis, the Apache as a PB Fab Extreme Drop front suspension and forward/narrowed control arms, 1972 C10 spindles and brake, KYB shocks a 7-inch CPP brake booster and a Corvette dual-reservoir master cylinder with proportioning valve. There is also an Air Lift Performance air management system and two Viair compressors.

Inside, there is cut-pile carpet, vinyl upholstery and a custom bench seat and dashboard complete with Classic Instruments and Boese Engineering gauges.

The truck has been featured in a 2017 issue of Street Trucks and will be the cover truck on Snap-On’s 2019 calendar.

Barrett-Jackson’s annual Las Vegas auction is scheduled for September 27-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
