Pirelli releases Italian flag tires for country’s National Day

-

Tire maker Pirelli released this week a special tri-color edition of its colored tires to celebrate Festa della Republica, the anniversary of the Italian vote to establish a republic government after World War II.

The tires come with red, white and green accents, the colors that appear on Italy’s flag.

The first of the tires were donated to Armando Varricchio, the Italian ambassador to the United States. Other sets were donated to Italian embassies in Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for use on official vehicles.

A single display tire will be placed in the Italian diplomatic offices in those countries, as well as Paris, Ankara, Tokyo, Mexico City, Brasilia, Buenos Aires and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Rome.

Unfortunately, the tires will not be sold to consumers. A Pirelli spokeswoman said they were specifically made for dignitary use.
