Longtime and highly respected collector car executive Tim McGrane is leaving the Blackhawk Museum to become chief executive of the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula and of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
“This is a unique opportunity that I am excited to accept, and one that will present many additional experiences and opportunities to challenge me,” McGrane said in his announcement.
“The County of Monterey and SCRAMP are making a longterm commitment to transform this legendary race track into a modern motorsport and lifestyle special events venue. I look forward to being an integral part of the transition of this iconic and historic motor racing facility that is such an important part of the Monterey Peninsula community.”
A native of England, McGrane was director of operations at Rick Cole Auctions and joined the Blackhawk for the first time when it acquired the Cole auction business. He then joined Barrett-Jackson as vice president of marketing and corporate communications.
After Barrett-Jackson, McGrane did marketing and events for luxury automotive, aviation and yachting clients and was vice president of event marketing for Curtco Media. He rejoined the Blackhawk in 2013 as executive director at the facility in Danville, California.
He also is part of the committee that manages the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
What a wonderful online publication. Please email me the info I need to be able to subscribe. Thanks.
Tim, It has been an honor to meet you through the NorCal Classic Car Club board meetings at Blackhawk. Hope to see you again at the races!
I am fortunate to have known Tim since his time at Barrett-Jackson, and am thrilled to learn of this move. They are blessed to have him, and I imagine he will be missed at Blackhawk. xo
