All-Ferrari auction set for Friday at Silverstone

-

Silverstone Auctions will offer 33 vehicles for sale Friday in what it says is the first all-Ferrari auction in England. The sale will be held in conjunction with the Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain, and it will take place at The Wing on the grounds of the Silverstone racing circuit.

“The ‘Sale of Ferraris’ is a brand-new auction for our 2018 calendar and the cars consigned to the sale are definitely some of the best in the country” Nick Whale, Silverstone Auctions managing director, is quoted in a news release. “This is the sale of the year for any serious Ferrari collector, with a range of cars spanning from the early ’60s all the way up to the latest supercars from the legendary marque.”

1972 365 GTB/4 Daytona

Among the cars on the docket is a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, one of only 158 right-hand-drive models and driven less than 36,000 miles in its lifetime. The car is painted Argento Auteuil with contrasting blue leather interior.

But the Daytona’s 35,900 miles is a much larger number than the 3,022 miles indicated on the odometer of a 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina on the docket in Rosso Corsa with grey-and-black interior. Yet another low-mileage offering is a 3,985-mile 1989 Ferrari 348 TS still on its original tires.

Two of the cars on the docket are coming from the collection of Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay — a 1998 550 Maranello in Grigio Titanio with Bordeaux leather interior and a 2011 Ferrari FF.
