Ferrari Challenge Weekend getting first all-women track session

Sorry, guys: This horse show isn’t for you.

The Prancing Ponies Foundation will hold the first all-women track session during the Ferrari Challenge Weekend in a few days’ time in California.

The event –- which will serve as a fundraiser for the group -– will be held in at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey.

The money will go toward the foundation’s leadership academies, which provide an opportunity for underserved girls to get a foothold in the automotive industry.

“Through our academy coupled with summer internships, we build their decision making skills so that they make good decisions not just for their lives, but for the industries and companies that they will lead,” Chanterria McGilbra, the foundation’s executive director, said in a news release.

McGilbra said the group hoped to send 10 female engineering students to Germany next year.

The Prancing Ponies held its initial all-female Ferrari show in August during Monterey Car Week in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
