Affectionately known as "Punishment" on the show circuit, attention to detail is evident all over this car.
(This is the second in a 10-day countdown leading up to Barrett-Jackson’s annual collector car auction in Las Vegas.)
Ready to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Vegas auction this month, no expense was spared in the creation of this unique 1970 Dodge Charger custom coupe.
Affectionately known as “Punishment” on the show circuit, attention to detail is evident. The car has won accolades among the Top 15 Muscle Cars at SEMA, multiple magazine inclusions ,and Goodguys award titles.
The car features a compelling blend of authentic styling cues and modern technology. Behind the iconic grille, now framed with a custom carbon-fiber bumper, is a 620hp 6.1-liter third-generation Hemi engine custom detailed for this vehicle. It is backed by a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and Dana rear end.
Above the carbon-fiber rear bumper is the instantly recognizable 2010 Dodge Challenger taillight layout, with carbon exhaust tips leaving a healthy rumble in its wake.
The body is covered in Metallic Gray, a color and style theme that carries throughout this car.
Technology abounds with a Corvette C6 suspension layout blended into the fabricated front chassis and engine bay. The rear-suspension design features a custom 4-link and Panhard bar. Braking is brought about by the 14-inch Wilwood discs and 6-piston calipers. Other touches include Lexan inner fenders, custom-fabricated firewall, special radiator support, rear tubs, as well as the cowl and trunk floor. The floor structure is even custom-fabricated.
The well-appointed interior finds flush-fit windows, plus custom door panels and dash created in Italian leather. Other cues from the modern Challenger are the melded-in door handles and side mirrors and Vintage Air.
A reported $380,000 was invested in the build, and it shows.
