Over the past weekend, racers Lyn St. James and Bobby Rahal took part in a fundraising event at the Collectors’ Car Garage in Chicago to benefit the RPM Foundation’s Racing Program series.

The RPM Foundation works with Americas Automotive Trust to expand and preserve jobs in automotive restoration. The “Racing Program Series” is a newly announced subset with a focus on automotive restoration as it pertains to motorsports.

“We are honored to have Lyn and Bobby at our fundraising event for the kick-off of RPM’s Racing Program Series,” RPM president Diane Fitzgerald said. “They have been adamant supporters of RPM, and the Racing Program Series will be a great way to demonstrate to students just how many opportunities there are in the vintage racing and car restoration markets.”

The Racing Program will take students to three famous U.S. race tracks — Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin; the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and Watkins Glen International in upstate New York –- this summer for guided tours and an up-close look at the pit and paddocks, for direct access to car owners, racers and their teams, and to connect with the sanctioning organizations and track management.

Students also have the ability to meet sponsors and vendors at the track.
