The Dragone family has been selling classic cars at its dealership in Westport, Connecticut, for decades. It began when Peter Dragone returned from World War II and with his three brothers starting buying and selling used cars and restoring and selling classics.

A few years ago, the Dragones added auctions to their sales menu. Saturday, they stage their first auction away from home with the inaugural Boston Cup Auction, being held at the Revere Hotel the day before the annual Boston Cup concours on the Boston Common.

“The art of the automobile takes shape in many ways as each and every decade has its own highlights,” the company’s news release noted. “For this, our inaugural 2016 auction in the beautiful New England city of Boston, Massachusetts, we are most proud to feature an array of cars that is arguably from the most fascinating era of American car design — the 1950s.

“These were the years that pioneered the emerging jet-age, and just like the high flying missiles the American motorcar also reached for the skies with fins, stars, chrome, and dazzle like no other era in history.”

The auction docket includes nearly 50 cars, more than two dozen of them produced during the 1950s, including a fuel-injected 1957 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, a 1957 Chrysler 300C convertible, a 1958 DeSoto Firedome convertible, a 1956 DeSoto Indianapolis 500 pace car, and a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible.

“Of course, we haven’t lost sight of our customer’s desire for the very best of other eras,” the release continues, listing vehicles to be offered up for bidding including a 1927 Packard Series 343 Super Eight Sport Touring, a 1931 Rollston 845 convertible Victoria, and a 1931 Cadillac V16 five-passenger Imperial landau cabriolet.

And from the Brass Era comes a 1913 Simples model 38 Holbrook tourer.

Other vehicles on the docket include a 1966 Maserati Mistral 4000, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird.

The auction preview runs from noon to 4 p.m. Friday with sales Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
