Offered without reserve from the Tammy Allen collection to cross the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson block October 13-15 is a 1947 Studebaker Starlight coupe dubbed “Black Bart.” Built by award-winning builder Tony Carlini. “Black Bart” is the 4-wheel version of the late builder’s one-time line of custom show motorcycles.
To create the custom coupe, Carlini restored the original steel body and used it in the build. The body is finished in a lustrous black paint while the cabin’s interior and trunk are appointed in custom Mocha leather. Other creature comforts within the interior include air conditioning with polished components and a complete set of Auto Meter gauges.
Under the hood of Carlini’s custom creation is a custom-built and balanced 462 cubic inch Chevrolet big block coupled to a General Motors Turbo Hydromatic 400 automatic transmission. Power is transferred to the rear wheels with a polished Currie 9-inch posi-traction differential with 3.25:1 gears.
Also on “Black Bart” are power 4-wheel disc brakes, power rack & pinion steering, and a 4-link rear suspension.
