Due to the popular growth of the AutoCross series at Goodguys Rod & Custom Association events, a Duel in Des Moines has been added to the 25th anniversary Heartland Nationals taking place July 1-3 at the Iowa Fairgrounds.
Participants can compete all day Friday and until noon Saturday to post their best time. Saturday at 1:00 p.m., the fasted 25 cars will run in the first round of qualifying. The field will be cut to 20 and then 16 before the top 8 qualify for the Duel in the Desert November at the 19th Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale.
“With the popularity of the Duel in the Desert, we wanted to do something mid-season, and the natural place was the big track at the Des Moines event,” said Ed Capen, Goodguys vice president of sales and sponsorship.
“The Duel in Des Moines is another way of racing into the final Duel in the Desert in Scottsdale in November,” he said.
